Session 5. Postdemocratic authoritarianism
Friday, 27 October 2023
12:00 h
Although the political sphere should always be understood in a dynamic way, in accordance with the continuous changes taking place therein, in recent times we have been witnessing certain transformations that erode some of the foundations on which our democracies are based. The rise of the so-called radical right wing, the non-liberal drift of the countries that make up the European Union, and the belligerence of so-called cultural battles that result in a loss of previously acquired rights, are some aspects of the challenge of reflecting on the vicissitudes of the present and the future. With the participation of two renowned journalists that enjoy extensive experience in political analysis, we will debate about how to face the current political challenges as well as the media’s role in providing information as a key element of any democratic society.
