Session 2. Past and future of ideologies
Thursday, 26 October 2023
19:30 h
The future of rights and the rights of the future is one of the key matters that we should consider in view of the great change that technology is bringing about in our lives. What is left, for example, regarding individual rights in view of the globalisation of economic powers, artificial intelligence, or the advances in intervening in the human body? The ideologies that have shaped today’s world are declining. How should we imagine the ideological framework of the future, with a few, ever-more powerful powers above States? Does liberal democracy have a future in this new world or is the move towards post-democratic authoritarianism inexorable?
