He is a political activist and Turkey’s best-selling author. Considered one of Turkey’s more important cultural figures of our time, he is well known for his novels, which combine different social and historical settings, personages, and incidents, including the renowned Bliss (winner of Barnes & Noble’s Discover Great New Writers Award) and Serenata para Nadia. His work has been translated into thirty-seven languages, has won numerous international literary prizes, and been adapted to film, theatre, and the opera. Livaneli is also a universally renowned singer and composer.
