Ricard Solé

PICREA research lecturer at Universidad Pompeu Fabra (UPF), where he is in charge of the Complex Systems Laboratory (UPF-PRBB)  and imparts classes of biomathematics, biological design, and complex diseases. His academic training combines biology and physics, a discipline in which he did a PhD, enabling him to focus his research career on complex systems. His research covers a wide range of fields, from the study of the evolutionary dynamics of viruses to synthetic biology and its application in the conservation of ecosystems, the study of social media, or language and complex systems such as Internet. He has worked with CCCB as a scientific educator and adviser for the «+ humans» exhibition and is one of the promoters of the “Science at Christmas” programme. He has also written the books Redes complejas (Tusquets, 2009), Vidas sintéticas (Tusquets, 2012) and Todas las muertes (Crítica, 2023).
