Aurora Bosch

Professor in Universidad de Valencia’s Department of Modern and Contemporary. Her interests have always been centred on the Second Republic and the Spanish Civil War, the political and social history of the United States, and comparative history. She is now focussed on conservatism, liberalism, and radicalism in the context of American politics, especially from the sixties to the present, considering the social, racial, and cultural aspects involved in the North American political conflict. She has been the main researcher in different national and regional research projects. In recent years, it is worth mentioning her work as the director of GEHTID until 2019, recognised as a Research Group of Excellence by the Generalitat Valenciana, and, along with Ana Aguado, director of the state project “Transition, social movements, and democracy in the 20th century. Spain in compared perspective.” She has received numerous prizes for her research activity, most recently the 2013 Willi Paul Adams Prize (Organization of American Historians) for the best book on the history of the United States in a foreign language for Miedo a la democracia. Estados Unidos ante la II República y la Guerra Civil española (Crítica, 2012). She is also the author of, among other publications, Izquierdas y derechas ante el espejo (Tirant Humanidades, 2016) and Miedo a la democracia (Crítica, 2014).
